“If we don’t step up we’ll lose our groove...”

Being a movie all about dance, Step Up would be nothing without it’s soundtrack, which I definitely believe makes the movie. I love “Show Me The Money,” by Petey Pablo. Whenever I hear it I can see the very start of the movie playing in my head. There are songs for all parts of the movie: the sad songs, love/breakup songs, and how could I forget the songs perfect for—of course—dancing. Every song has the perfect words to go along with the situations in the movie, like Chris Brown’s song, Say Goodbye. “Girl it's not you, it's me, I kinda gotta figure out what I need... There's never a right time to say goodbye,” and Samantha Jade’s song, “Step Up,” says, “No matter how hard it gets, this love will have no regrets, as long as when we're stepping on the dance floor it’s me and you.” Also, Drew Sidora, who plays Nora’s best friend, Lucy in the movie, sings her own songs, and is really very good. Her song “’Til The Dawn” is definitely one of my favourites. The songs really aren’t as significant as they would be if you’ve seen the movie (which I definitely recommend), but I guess you wouldn’t go and buy the soundtrack for a movie you haven’t seen... I definitely think this is a great compilation of songs together, there’s a really good mix of all types of music in the movie.
