I have to admit, that I never even heard of the All-American Rejects quite a while ago until I saw She’s the Man 3 times (but I’ll leave the movie reviewing to Emma), and their song “Dirty Little Secret” kept getting stuck in my head. Then, I later heard their hit “Move Along” on the radio. I know that this CD came out more than a year ago, but in case you are looking for a good buy and aren’t exactly sure whether or not to get this album, I’ll let you know there are plenty more good songs besides “Move Along” and “Dirty Little Secret”. I love the music. There are so many small details that make this album a masterpiece, whether it’s a quick switch to a cappella, a clock ticking in the background or a change in rhythm throughout the song. Harmonizing and background vocals are amazing. There are some really catchy tunes in “Stab My Back”, “I’m Waiting” and “Top of the World”. And then we slow things down, with more sad/angry lyrics in “It Ends Tonight”, “I Can’t Take It” and “Straitjacket Feeling”. The All-American Rejects definitely know a thing or two about attention to detail, you can tell that this album has been carefully pieced together to perfection, definitely not a waste of money. This is a very talented band—not to mention the all-american heart throb and lead singer, Tyson Ritter. ; )
Thanks to my friend, who is a huge fan of the All-American Rejects, I was invited to go see an AAR concert in Toronto on Nov. 7th. The band has an absolutely amazing stage presence, it was so much fun to see them live. Thanks to that, it was definitely a memory I will not forget.
