“I just want to wake up… wake up in someone else’s arms”
I really, really love this band, and it’s surprisingly not one you’ll hear on the radio a ton. I really think more people should know about Mae. It is probably so far the oldest album I’ve reviewed, but definitely a favourite. The album kicks off with a really cute Prologue to start it off, “You are now ready to experience The Everglow” and ends with an Epilogue, “I hope you enjoyed your journey. Goodnight.” I really love all of the music on this album, full of amazing piano work in “We’re So Far Away”, “The Ocean” and “ The Sun And The Moon” and the lyrics flow perfectly along with the music, and are relevant to every day situations that anyone can relate to. There is a really good balance of all of the instruments in every song. This album is full of really catchy tunes (which I don’t mind at all having stuck in my head). I personally like “Someone Else’s Arms”, “Breakdown” and “Mistakes We Knew We Were Making” the best. One of my favourite things to do is to listen to a couple of Mae’s songs on shuffle right before go to bed, I’m not exactly sure why, but listening to them makes me really happy. This band is very creative and artistic, but not only in their music, if you look at the inside booklet, along with the lyrics are cute cartoonish pictures showing a young boy’s journey to “The Everglow” throughout each song in the CD. I loved their earlier album, Destination: Beautiful, which I definitely recommend as well, and I honestly can’t wait to hear more!
