Relient K’s newest album, Apathetic EP, introduces 4 brand new songs, along with acoustic twists on 3 older songs we all love. Even though it is a mid-tour release, for some it may just be an “I’ve heard it all before” scenario. I love listening to the lyrics, Matt Theissen’s words are smooth and he can make it rhyme, without sounding cheesy, all the while he still gets his point across clear. Being a Christian band, this CD may help teens through struggling with their faith (“Begging for the truth, Sometimes the hardest thing to believe is the truth”), and still give praise for life changing moments (“This dying world, You brought it back to life”). So, it all comes down to this; is Apathetic EP just another “must have” for all diehard Relient K fans, or simply a CD to have a mutual “apathetic” feeling about? I feel that this album is definitely worth hearing. We will look forward to listening to Relient K’s next album, after their current 2005/06 tour.
