Sydney White is heading off to South Atlantic University, and
after having been raised by her construction worker father, she
has high hopes to make it into the Kappa house as a pledge, in
order to carry on her mother’s legacy. Her mother was one of
the Kappa legends.
At SAU, Sydney meets up with the handsome Tyler Prince, who
happens to be the love interest of Rachel Witchburn, the head of
the Kappa house. Tyler ends up falling for Sydney, which only
causes more trouble for her. After failing the initiation tests to
become a Kappa sister, Sydney has nowhere left to go and ends
up staying at the Vortex, the left behind building on Greek Row,
and feels as though she’s not only let down her dad, but also
her mother. In the Vortex is where seven of the school’s “dorks,” each with his own geeky personality lives. And so
Sydney comes to recognize the ways of the “dorks” and what
they have to deal with. As school elections approach, Sydney
decides the only way for the Vortex to get the help it deserves is
to not let Rachel win. She convinces one of the “dorks” to run for
president and so Terry gives Rachel a run for her money.
Rachel and Sydney battle head to head and Rachel does
whatever it takes to stop the “Freedom to the Seventh
Power” (Terry’s campaign group) from winning the election. And
since Sydney has climbed her way up the hot list for the school
on myspace, and is threatening Rachel’s position of number one,
Rachel is even more determined to not let Sydney win.
Based on the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, this
movie has been also called Sydney White and the Seven Dorks.
Each of the characters suit their roles and all of the “dorks” really
stand out. There are a lot of comical situations, and Amanda
Bynes’ personality is truly suited for them. It’s a great chick flick
movie that has a feel good feeling. Sydney is bound to let the “dorks” come out of their shells and realize their full
potential.
