Based on the novel by Jane Austen, the classic love story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy is brought to life, yet again: A lengthier version of the novel had been done by the BBC. Having not previously seen this film and have only half read the novel, I was pleasantly surprised at how well this film was done.
All of the characters had great chemistry between one another, and though the film was just over 2 hours, watching it transported me back in time to when marrying and marrying rich was among the top priorities for women.
Mrs. Bennet is a mother of 5 daughters and has high hopes that each of them shall be married to weathly men. When news that Mr. Bingley (who is a very rich bachelor) is coming to town, a ball is held in his honour. He brings with him his sister and Mr. Darcy. Of course, Mrs. Bennet rushes to introduce all of her daughters to this fine young man, and his eye just happens to catch sight of the lovely Jane. This ball begins their relationship, as after the ball, Jane is invited to dine with his sister. After which, Mr. Bingley is persuaded that she is not a suitable wife for a man of his status. Mr. Bingley leaves town and Jane is heartbroken.
However, the real love story is between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. When they meet at the ball, they start of on the wrong foot, and Elizabeth swears that he would be the last man on the face of the earth that she would ever marry. The thing is, while accidentally spending time together, Mr. Darcy becomes quite attracted to Lizzie.
As the story unfolds, many situations arise that add to the complicated love stories between the two couples, and only watching the movie or reading the novel will show how the story concludes.
