Based on the T.V. show by the same name, many familiar characters return in this feature length film featuring Maxwell Smart.
Smart is Control’s top analyst and has high hopes of becoming a field agent. It isn’t until Control has been attacked that he has the chance to live his dream. Maxwell Smart becomes Agent 86, as determined by the cheif, and embarks on a mission with Agent 99 to explore and determine how Kaos has been receiving nuclear weapons.
Though Agent 99 has doubts about Maxwell’s ability as a field agent, his quirkiness and clumsiness pulls them out of some jams, and the two of them come closer to discovering the secrets that Kaos hold, as well as closer to each other.
However, after destroying the crime scene, no evidence of nuclear warfare can be spotted, and Control doubts Maxwell’s loyalty, especially since 99 did not see any of the evidence either.
With twists to the story and interesting character histories, it provides for a good showing. There are many humorous moments that have you laughing out loud. Even though the ‘big’ sound cut out during my time seeing this film, it was still one that was thoroughly enjoyed.
Previously, I had seen a few of the T.V. episodes, but cannot fully determine how fans of the show may find the movie.
All of the actors brought their characters to life, each with their own special personalities, and interacted well with one another. Many of the minor characters were helpful in proving the laughs that came along with the film.
With much action, and many laughs, it’s a movie I would recommend seeing, either with or without having seen the T.V. show.
