Tripp is a 35 year old man who has one slight problem... He still lives in his parent's house. His parents are quite fed up with his living arrangements and hire Paula, who is an expert in this field, to get him to move out. The plan is simple: Paula simulates a relationship with Tripp, she gets him to be dependent on her so that he will be able to take the step of moving out. She even has steps to help along with this process “chance encounter, get him to ask her out, involve him in a trauma, meet his friends and get their nod, delay sex, have him teach her something, then launch him” (www.imdb.com). Along the way, complications arise, some of which include Tripp trying to break up with Paula, Paula falls in love with Tripp and Tripp finds out Paula has been hired by his parents. Tripp’s family and friends work together in the end and try to get them back together.
Sara Jessica Parker (who plays Paula) seemed to lack emotion, though for the most part she played the character well. The language is harsh and ‘may be unsuitable for viewers under 13’ and there are some scenes with partial nudity. Goofy animal stunts that were supposed to be funny lead to some cheesy laughs.
However, there are many parts that provide laughter and the overall plot is quite cleverly done.
