Casino Royale (2006)

Casino Royale I think the stakes were set a little too high in anticipation for this movie. While it was one that was enjoyable, it seemed to drag on and on. Many parts could have made for good closings until something else in the plot was left unresolved and the most incredible James Bond (before he was a double o) needed to fix it.

The stunts at the beginning of the movie, though quite neat, were unrealistic. The guy Bond was chasing managed to run, climb, jump etc. all too well; he didn’t miss anything. It was too perfect.

Daniel Craig, who played Bond, seemed cold in this movie. For some reason, he just didn’t suit the part of James Bond, and he did have great predecessors to match up to. Maybe he just isn’t what I’m used to.... If he continues to appear as the face of Bond, I guess I could get used to it.

The basic plot outline seemed confusing to follow and there was much to think about as quite a bit was happening. The scenes were very diverse and all over - an airport, the Body Works exhibit, a resort by the harbour, a casino (of course) as well as a hospital, a train and boats.

Most of the stunts were impressive and some of the characters quite memorable (ranging from a ruthless man who cries blood to a seemingly shy female accomplice to Bond), as were some of the lines... some funny as well.

I’m really still not quite sue what I think of this movie... There were great parts and some not so great aspects to Casino Royale. It’s not a movie I’d enjoy seeing over and over again, though I’d deem it to be interesting.
