How to Host a One Day Star Wars Marathon
Be sure to check with your parents and make sure they are cool with having your friends over for more than 12 hours at one time. It is a good idea to ask your parents if they would provide dinner for you and your friends as you will be with your guests and might not have time to make dinner.
Set aside a full day, because your friends will be there the WHOLE day!
Make a guest list but make sure the people you invite know each other and enjoy Star Wars because it is a long day in close quarters together watching all six episodes. Be sure to check early who is and isn't coming as there is a lot of planning to be done, such as number of people for snacks, meals and seating.
Make sure that you have enough seating for all of the guests as sitting on the floor can be quite uncomfortable.
Hint: You may want to consider having a sleep-over for some as it will be a tiring day.
Make a schedule! Check and recheck your times! (see suggested schedule) Add time for a short break in-between each film but make sure that you stay true to your times. Run the marathon as a movie theatre, do not wait for everyone to be there, start the movies according to your schedule. This is to prevent everything from running overtime.
Depending on the number of people attending, you might want to serve dinner in shifts.
In terms of food, it is a good idea to ask friends to supply the snacks and lunch, assigning each a certain item to bring so that you will not end up with lots of chips and no lunch.
Have certain items set aside for people who might get bored and not want to continue watching. These can include items such as magazines, puzzles, board games and CDs. These should be placed in another room as to not disturb the faithful Star Wars marathoners.

It is a good idea to print out a schedule and post it where it can be easily seen. You might also want to print off something that says who is in what dinner shift.
While one shift is having dinner, the other should probably take a walk outside depending on the weather to have a break from being inside all day.

Memories from our marathon
- Out of the 16 people who attended, only 2 faithfully watched all 6 movies!
- The others were in another room playing none other than.... STAR WARS MONOPOLY!
- We made up little certificates for all those who attended.
- We originally made up the schedule just to find out one of our movies was off by an hour, so we had t go back and rearrange everything! Luckily, it still ended around the same time, we just had to shorten the break times.
- We made up a slide show that contained a description of each movie with the times at which we were showing them for when people first arrived.
- We had to stuff 2 couches in our basement in order to hold everyone.
- Surprisingly, everyone got along really well considering our age range was 14 to 16 and not everyone knew each other.
- Everyone brought the food they were supposed to! We also had tons of leftovers (so do not overload)
- Only 1 person we invited could not make it : (
